Terms of Service | My County

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the My County platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, Community Members, Business Owners, Team Members, Salespeople, County Managers, and administrators.

2. Description of Service

My County is a community resource hub that provides local business directories, community resources, event calendars, and essential information organized by county and city across the United States. The platform connects residents with local businesses, community leaders, and county-specific resources.

3. User Accounts

Registration

To access certain features, you must create an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

Account Types

Community Member: Free accounts for residents to save favorites, write reviews, and engage with local content.
Business Owner: Users who own or manage a business listed on the platform. Dashboard access requires a Premium subscription or Free Special Listing status.
Team Member: Employees or managers invited by Business Owners with specific permissions.
County Manager: Approved individuals who manage content and moderate a specific county's page.
Salesperson: Authorized representatives who onboard businesses onto the platform.

4. Business Listings

Listing Tiers

Unclaimed: Basic listings added by salespeople or imported from public data sources. Include business name, category, and address.
Premium ($10/month): Full-featured listings with photos, business hours, contact details, reviews, analytics, and team management.
Free Special Listing: Churches, non-profit organizations, and government entities receive Premium-level features at no cost.

Business Verification

All business registrations and claims undergo a verification process, which may include phone callback verification and EIN validation. Applications progress through defined stages (Pending, Awaiting Verification, Verified, Approved/Rejected). Rejected applications may be appealed.

Accuracy of Information

Business Owners are responsible for ensuring that all information in their listings is accurate, current, and not misleading. My County reserves the right to modify or remove listings that contain inaccurate or inappropriate content.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at $10/month or annually at $100/year through Stripe.
Optional badge add-ons (e.g., Veteran Owned, Locally Owned, Chamber Member) are available at $1/month or $10/year each.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
Business Owners can manage their billing through the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from their dashboard.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us for refund requests.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Provide false or misleading information in your profile or business listing
Impersonate another person or business
Post reviews that are fake, defamatory, or intended to harm competitors
Use the platform for spam, harassment, or illegal activities
Attempt to access accounts, data, or areas of the platform that you are not authorized to access
Interfere with the operation of the platform or its infrastructure
Scrape, crawl, or collect data from the platform without authorization

7. Reviews and Content

User-Generated Content

By submitting reviews, comments, event submissions, or other content, you grant My County a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use that content in connection with the platform. You retain ownership of your content.

Content Moderation

Reviews and submitted events are subject to moderation by County Managers and platform administrators. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms, including but not limited to content that is defamatory, obscene, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate.

Reporting

Users may report inappropriate content (businesses, reviews, or other users) through the platform's reporting system. Reports are reviewed by County Managers and administrators.

8. County Managers

County Managers are approved by platform administrators and agree to:

Manage their assigned county's content responsibly and impartially
Review and act on business applications, event submissions, and reports in a timely manner
Maintain the accuracy and quality of community resources and directory listings
Follow platform guidelines for content moderation and community management

My County reserves the right to revoke County Manager status for violations of these guidelines.

9. Bans and Suspensions

County Managers may ban users from participating in their county at the county level. Platform administrators may impose platform-wide bans. Banned users will be notified of the ban and the reason. Users who are banned may contact us to appeal the decision.

10. Intellectual Property

The My County platform, including its design, logo, features, and original content, is owned by My County and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our platform without written permission.

11. Disclaimers

My County provides business directory and community resource information "as is" and does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of user-submitted content.
We do not endorse any specific business, service, or resource listed on the platform.
Interactions between users, including transactions with listed businesses, are solely between those parties.
We are not responsible for the quality of goods or services provided by listed businesses.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, My County shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the platform shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.
